Loch Awe and Kilchurn Castle.

I had a trip out to the Loch Awe area on Monday. This is the view towards Ben Lui (with a little snow). The railway line to Glasgow runs along the loch side and past Kilchurn Castle. An hour later it was sleeting and windy!

A zoomed shot towards the castle. The little bridge over the railway is at the end of Lochawe station platform and the parked carriage is actually a restaurant.

A bit closer to the castle and the view from the front garden of the house I visited. The catkins are good this year.

Historic Pix No.1

(added later) See entry "Historic Pix No.2"

I thought I would start an occasional posting of historic pictures from the Benderloch area. This is detail from an early 1900's picture showing the main road south out of the village. The building on the left was the Post Office and the distant building is the Campbell Memorial Hall, which is now a house. A new Campbell memorial Hall was built by the Church and is still in everyday use.
Below is a picture of the same bit of road taken last summer. As you can see the road has changed little - but was about to be widened when I took this I'll get a photo which matches the original view soon!
