December sunset

This was taken from the same location as the "big wave" picture below. Its December 14th and still stormy, but now its heavy showers with sleet. The view is looking just west of south over Tralee Bay, Benderloch. The dark land in the distance is the island of Kerrera, across from Oban bay. I took it at about 3:15pm. Posted by Picasa

Big wave

This is a telephoto shot taken from Keil Crofts, Benderloch on a stormy afternoon in December. The wave breaking over the headland doesn't look too big but it's over half a mile away and I certainly wouldn't like to have been standing close by! Posted by Picasa

"Summer" in October.

Looking east over Tralee Bay. The forested lower slopes of Ben Lora in the distance. Posted by Picasa
It might have been October - but it was warm enough for swimming in the sea! Tralee beach, Benderloch. Posted by Picasa
Looking across the dunes at the west end of Tralee beach. The cliffs in the centre are at the base of Ben Lora and I'm told they mark end of an ancient lava flow from the volcanic Ben Cruachan which is about 10 miles away. The main road between Oban and Fort William runs below the cliffs. Benderloch village is hiding on the left of the picture.

Beach Figures

A simple shot into the sun on Tralee beach. I like the way the figures are barely defined appearing to walk into a future as a small boat sits nearby on the sand. Taken Oct 06. Posted by Picasa
