Lora Forest Feb 07

A walk in the forest on Sunday (Feb 18th).
It was a sunny day early on with some thin, high cloud later.

In the pictures I'm looking for spots of colour and signs of the approach of spring.

On the forest floor - the remains of autumn.

Followed by new growth from the decay.

Some buds appearing on the beech bushes.

Catkins providing a splash of colour

And the sun goes down through the bare tree branches.

Sunny West Highlands

The TV news today has been full of pictures of the problems caused by snow in England and Wales. Up here, on Scotland's west highland coast the weather has been lovely all week. OK, quite cold, but very clear. Last night I was being driven through the hills to a meeting at Dalmally and the stars were bright right down to the horizon. We even saw several shooting stars - rather magical.
The pictures are -
(upper) Ardmucknish Bay and Tralee Beach in the distance
(lower) the view up Loch Creran towards the distant Glencoe hills.

I took them a couple of days ago, but the views were similar this morning. Posted by Picasa
