Glencoe - March snow

Glencoe is about a 35 minute drive north of home and we took a drive up there on Tuesday. There had been some snow in the previous few days - we even had some on the coast here in Benderloch. By the time the sun came out 24 hrs later most of the snow had gone from the low ground but the mountains were quite dramatic.

More pictures should appear above when I've had time to sort out te best ones.

Forest walk

I took this picture on a walk in Ben Lora Forest in February specifically for a competition entry. The competition is a new monthy one run by the Scottish Rural Gateway under the theme "Living in Rural Scotland". I wanted to get the feeling of a cold, winter walk and decided to show the bare tree branches in an almost monochrome scene, with the scarf providing the one bit of colour.
If the link still works you can view the February competition results at
(if the link is invisible go to http://tinyurl.com/2wdvqg)

For what its worth I didn't win but got displayed in the gallery of the best entries. The winning photo shows the guizers lighting their torches at the annual Up-Helly-Aa festival at Lerwick in Shetland and is a worthy winner. Have a look and submit an entry to the next contest if you can.
